The Minister of Natural Resources first approved Mississippi Valley Conservation (MVC) regulations under Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act in1988. Since that time, MVC has enforced regulations with respect to natural hazards. In 2006, the regulation was revised and pursuant to Ontario Regulation 153/06 (Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses) MVC is in the process of revising the local policies to be used when reviewing applications.
