| Watershed Conditions Bulletin November 30, 2010 |
|
This is a bulletin to advise member municipalities of general conditions throughout the Mississippi Valley Watershed. Current weather forecasts indicate that more than 50 mm of rain may fall in this region over the next 48 hours. If so, MVC expects that levels in smaller streams and creeks across the watershed will rise quickly and may result in some overtopping of banks and nuisance flooding. Levels on some lakes, such as Dalhousie and Mississippi, will increase over the next few days. No significant flooding is anticipated in response to increased runoff at this time. MVC emphasizes the dangers of fast flowing water from now through the spring runoff. Parents are strongly urged to continue to warn their children about dangers of hypothermia and playing in or near cold fast moving water in ditches and smaller creeks. Updates will be issued as forecasts and conditions change. Please contact the Mississippi Valley Conservation office if you have any questions regarding this information. Daily water levels and flows are available on the MVC website at www.mvc.on.ca. |
