Mississippi Valley Conservation is issuing an update to the WATERSHED CONDITIONS BULLETIN issued November 30, 2010. Please contact the Mississippi Valley Conservation office if you have any questions regarding this information. As a result of more than 75 mm of rain that occurred in the western portion of the watershed over the past two days, water levels are expected to be higher then originally forecasted in that part of the watershed. Some flooding can be expected on Little Marble and Marble Lakes. Water levels on Dalhousie Lake are also expected to increase 10-15 cm over the next couple of days resulting in levels being just slightly below a normal spring flood level. Levels are expected to peak by the weekend and should drop relatively quickly barring any further significant rainfall. Carp River levels have increased dramatically over the last 24 hours but are not expected to increase much more and are expected to peak Thursday. Levels on smaller creeks have already or are expected to peak today. Levels will remain high throughout the watershed for the remainder of the month as this water moves down through the watershed. MVC emphasizes the dangers of fast flowing water from now through the spring runoff across the watershed. Parents are strongly urged to continue to warn their children about the dangers of hypothermia and playing in or near cold fast moving water in ditches and smaller creeks. Daily water levels and flows are available on the MVC website at www.mvc.on.ca. |
