Update - Watershed Conditions Bulletin December 10, 2010

Mississippi Valley Conservation is issuing an update to the WATERSHED CONDITIONS BULLETIN - UPDATE issued December 2, 2010.

Water levels across the Mississippi Valley watershed have peaked and are slowly receding. Levels and flows are expected to remain higher than normal on the Mississippi River for at least the next 30 days as water moves from the upper portion of the watershed to the lower river system.

Lakes and sections of river freezing at high water levels may result in dangerous ice conditions along the shoreline. Residents are urged to stay off ice covered waterways or use extreme caution if venturing onto the ice.

MVC wants to emphasize the dangers of fast flowing water from now through the spring runoff across the watershed. Parents are strongly urged to continue to warn their children about dangers of hypothermia and playing in or near cold fast moving water in ditches and smaller creeks.

Daily water levels and flows are available on the MVC website at www.mvc.on.ca.
