| Watershed Conditions Bulletin February 16, 2011 |
|
Based on current snow conditions, along with a five-day forecast for increased temperatures and rainfall, Mississippi Valley Conservation is issuing a Watershed Conditions Bulletin. Rising temperatures and precipitation are forecast for the next three days. The current snowpack has capacity to absorb and freeze a large portion of the expected precipitation. With temperatures forecasted to return to normal by the weekend general flooding is not expected at this time. However, runoff may be sufficient to flood roadside ditches and contribute to higher conditions in area creeks and streams. Fast flowing water and unstable shorelines are dangerous. Residents are strongly urged to continue to warn their children about dangers of hypothermia and playing in or near cold fast moving water in ditches and smaller creeks. Daily water levels and flows are available on the MVC website at www.mvc.on.ca. |
