| Flood Advisory Update-1 April 6, 2009 |
|
Mississippi Valley Conservation (MVC) is issuing an update to the FLOOD ADVISORY issued March 30, 2009. The FLOOD ADVISORY for residents of Snow Road Village, Dalhousie and Mississippi Lakes and residents along the Clyde River and smaller creeks is still in effect. As a result of the precipitation over the past weekend and the rainfall in the forecast, water levels throughout the watershed are expected to continue to increase. Water levels on Dalhousie Lake are expected to increase 5-10 cm from its current elevation of 157.41 m and based on the current long range forecast should peak by Thursday. Water levels on Mississippi Lake are expected to increase 25-30 cm above the current elevation of 134.79 m over the next five days. This will produce flood elevations in these areas slightly above average and flooding of areas that are normally susceptible to spring floods are expected. Additional updates will be issued as required. Water levels are expected to remain high for at least the next two weeks and any significant rainfall during that period may aggravate the situation. Parents please continue to warn children about the dangers of playing on or near ice covered surfaces or fast flowing water in ditches and smaller creeks. |
