WATERSHED WATCH BUCKSHOT LAKE (Indian Lake) LOCATION: Buckshot Lake is located approximately 12.8 kilometres northwest of Plevna and east of Highway # 506. SIZE / DEPTH: Length - 4.9 kilometres Shoreline length - 20.9 kilometres Maximum Depth - 33.5 metres Width - 0.9 Kilometres QUALITY: In general the water quality in Buckshot Lake remains very good. The Provincial Water Quality Objective for Total Phosphorus for Buckshot Lake is 10 micrograms per litre. Phosphorus levels remain below the provincial Objective. Chlorophyll a, the green pigment found in algae, has also declined marginally, since 1976. Levels averaged 0.86 micrograms/litre in 1999 indicating an unenriched or Oligotrophic lake, conditions essential to sustain lake trout habitat.
