MISSISSAGAGON LAKE

LOCATION:
Mississagagon Lake is located in the North Frontenac Township, on the north side of highway # 506, 9.6 kilometres east of highway # 41.

Length - 7.0 kilometres
Surface area - 1254 acres
Width - 0.7 kilometres
Maximum Depth - 23.8 metres
Shoreline - 35.4 kilometres
Mean Depth - 9.08 metres

QUALITY:
The water quality in Mississagagon is very good, water clarity has increased 1 metre since 1976. Phosphorous levels decreased at the east end station, levels were slightly lower in 1998 at the west end station as well. Levels remain below the Provincial Water Quality Objective of 20 micrograms/litre. Chlorophyll a, the green pigment found in algae, has decreased 1.2 micrograms/litre in the west basin and 1.6 micrograms/litre in the east basin. Levels average 0.9 micrograms/litre between the two stations, indicating an unenriched or an Oligotrophic lake with few nutrients.

Access onto Mississagagon Lake is available through Bon Echo Provincial Park on highway # 41, 20.9 kilometres northwest of the lake.
